the debate about dalida's citizenship is inappropriate. her song shows clearly that she is an egyptian. seek translation and you would know. it's a song of a person who left his country (Egypt) and happy to return to it. she is using the egyptian expression for the people who return, i.e. salma ya salama.

well, according to her ethnicity dalida was not egyptian. the thing is if u were born & raised in a country & left when u were twenty something, even if u were not a citizen of this country, ur pretty much a part of it & its culture is part of u & those childhood years probably have the most effect on ur adulthood. the thing is Dalida was great in whatever language & if she did not regard herself as part of Egypt, she wouldn't have made songs like this or many others in the love of egypt.
