Timrich, considering that Basaev was killed by the Russians in a remotely detonated explosion while taking delivery of a truck-load of ammunition (including 100 unguided rockets), your claim that "large amount of barbed wire" was instrumental in bringing about his demise is utterly ridiculous. Since his body WAS indeed mangled beyond recognition, you may further occupy your deranged intellect by theorizing that Basaev might be alive and at present actively planning his formidable comeback.

Facts like the way he was killed with an extremely ad-hoc VBIED which contained large amounts of barbed wire, a trade mark of a certain local rival fundamentalist Ingush warlord. Or the general fact essentially all post Cold-War Russian CT/insurgency operations have been extremely ham-fisted int their execution? Chechnya 1/2, Beslan, Nord-Ost, the so called Chechyan bombings etc. Try reading real reports and critically analyzing them like you might do, in say, writing a master's ;)

You are hardly justified in categorically denying something on the basis of a mere hunch, aren't you? And especially so when your half-baked version of the event flies in the face of a great deal of irrefutable evidence that conclusively points to the fact that Basaev was taken out by Russian counter-intelligence. But then why would you be swayed by the facts when instead you can perpetuate your own ignorance with any number of ludicrous suppositions? Like Putin said - stay in school.

No he didn't, learn some history. Basayev was most likely killed by a local rival Ingushetian warlord. Basayev's open challenge to Putin was left unanswered.
