Jeff Bridges tells the story of how, as a little boy, he visited the 'High Noon' set to see his dad, Lloyd. He said he watched them film the fight scene between Lloyd Bridges' character, Harvey, and Gary Cooper (Will Kane) and got very upset, with his dad having to assure him it wasn't real. Also got to love the way Mel Brooks parodied the town meeting scene shown in 'High Noon' 22 years later in 'Blazing Saddles'.

tex ritter was still very popular on television and campaigned vigorously to be able to sing this song for the movie. it's to our benofit he suseeded.

It was said that 'High Noon' was a particular favorite of Dwight D. Eisenhower, and that he loved this title song. Also note the Director of Photography on this film was Floyd Crosby -- father of David Crosby of The Byrds, and later, Crosby, Stills and Nash.

It was my good fortune to meet the author of "High Noon" at court reporting school in Los Angeles. John Cunningham, the author, and I did not complete the training but found it interesting nonetheless. John, often quite affable, had the most explosive temper in a person I've ever met. One afternoon on our way back to Santa Barbara via Ventura Boulevard, he had to stop for gas. The attendant did something -- what, I don't know -- that set him off and, boy, did I feel sorry for the kid.
