Intelligent Design and Creationism/Evolution Controversy

'Intelligent Design' (ID) is a new form of creationism that emerged after legal decisions in the 1980s hampered the inclusion of 'creation science' in the public school curriculum. In the 20 years since ID appeared, there has been no evidence of it being used to solve problems in biology. Although the scientific/scholarly part of ID has been a failure, the 'cultural renewal' part of ID has been a success, as supporters of ID seek 'restoration' of a theistic sensibility in American culture to replace what they consider an overemphasis on secularism.

Jesus Christ this is way too long. I love this kind of stuff but I'm good with a 10-12 minute video on here not one that's gonna last an hour and nearly 30 minutes. But to give my own two cents on the subject creation science should not be taught in public schools let alone in a university simply because it is not science but a belief an intelligent designer created the world. That's belief and something which cannot be tested and probed in a laboratory or in the real world itself.

I'd like to help you. I'm from Cincinnati, Ohio where this debate has been big the last few years. I didn't know much about evolutionary thoery, I thought it was "just a theory", etc. I have since learned how evolutionary theory is USED everyday (Bioinformatics for example) to help us. There is no debate in science as to whether or not evolution has occurred. There are not 2 sides to this. Evolution only concerns changing, living, organisms, NOT origins.

It's not a debate. Evolution is supported by scientific facts and logical conjecture based on overwhelming observable evidence. Creationism is 'God Did It'! Hope that helps!

Are there any neutral parties willing to host a debate on creation vs evolution? Does anyone know of a good video or web page that takes an unbiased approach to both sides of the argument. I personally think faith is the same thing as a Hypothesis. There is only one truth and we are logical human beings (apparently) so maybe the answer lies in an honest discussion between both groups. Obviously I don't know enough about the subject but I would like to know where we came from.

ID fails every test given it. EVERY one. Evolution passes EVERY test given it for 150 years. There is so much we do everyday that tests the theory of evolution in hospitals, viral labs and our everyday technology. ID proponents are not trying to introduce a scientific theory. they are just there to sow doubt and bring people to the lord. google "the wedge document" its a true document that outlines the plan written by christians. scientists have no prob with being proven wrong.

No. "It's Magic" can't be part of any equation. even if evolution is discredited (which has been tried by any scientist who wished to make a name for himself over darwins) the "debate" is created by creationists. ID relies on you not investigating the facts.the more you know, the more you realize that ID proponents are not presenting any evidence. they attack what honest scientist dont know yet because scientists ADMIT the are a few thing they dont get yet.but that doesnt mean id is correct.

Randy (this is a sincere question) I thought God was but one of many possibilities that ID implicates. Without God, given we know so little about how life began, isn't ID as legitimate an option to consider as anything else we could consider about something we know almost nothing about? Isn't it worth consideration given we know nothing? I have NO religious or God agenda... but it appears that people are debating alot but with little terms of reference... what's your take on this?
randypagan (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
"shouldn't say a theory is fact because BOTH take FAITH to believe " Wrong, theories take testing, peer review and evidence. it requires no FAITH. EVER. creationism needs nothing but faith. has nothing but faith. NEVER will have evidence. has been tested for about 100 years by science and has FAILED EVERY SINGLE TEST THAT HAS EVER BEEN GIVEN IT. evolution passes tests every single day in hospitals, viral labs, and biology labs EVERY SINGLE DAY.Call a natural history museum and go c evidence

LMAO!! next time just post "I have never read anything over a 3rd grade science book!" Your willful ignorance to not even do any real research makes your side look stupid and uninformed. if you want to help intelligent design, stop talking about it.trust me. you are the one that has never studied science and formed your opinion from someone who doesnt care if they are wrong or even lying because they beleive end result will bring people to the lord.theories are higher than laws genius.

Science is for school, religion is for Church
