Tiananmen Survivors Recall Massacre

In the early morning hours of June 4th, the soldiers opened fire on protesters in, and around, Tiananmen Square, chasing people with tanks and mowing them down with machine guns; bringing a violent and bloody end to the nearly two month long grassroots democratic movement. This event is etched in the minds of millions of people around the world as the June 4th, 1989, Tiananmen Square Massacre. During these two months there were so many key defining moments that led up to that fateful day. And today we recount the particularly inspiring episode that took place on the afternoon of May 23rd. The incident may have seemed insignificant at the time. But it completely changed the lives of three courageous young men from Hunan Province. Here's their story.
