Well said, RonPaulGeorgeRingo. Have you noticed that in so many of their songs Paul's bassline is the driving force of the song? He is never still, always throbbing, always melodic, even hyper, but still appropriate to the song. I love his playing so much that I catch myself humming the bassline! Maybe people are in the dark because they are too busy listening to the vocals, guitars, and drums. But Paul's basslines are divine!

I'm often amazed at how many people young & old (even musicians) are in the dark about what a GREAT bass player Paul was. Maybe it's because his unbelievable gift as a composer (coming UP with all the GREAT bass lines) sometimes overshadows his brilliant & solid playing. Just about everything he did was superb, & he often really shines on John's & George's songs . . . probably because his mind was in a way freer to explore, experiment. |
