You should read the books if you really want to know all of that. Start with the Simirilion also then read the hobbit then the Lord of the Rings. They really are great (except the simirilion but it gives a lot of good backstory and tells the original story on the undying lands where Frodo and Bilbo go at the end of the last movie).
