Unfortunately, there is no heaven for those who live by their own laws. Yes, Christians sound hypocritical and some can seem really lousy, but I will ask you to look past them and see the the truth in Jesus Christ. We are all sinners, no one is better than another. God sent the ultimate moral standard in the form of Jesus Christ, that is the true standard. There is no need to take offense. Just study Jesus Christ. If you seek him you will find him. I used to think as you too. Bless you.

You are measuring a good person by what standard? Your standard might be different from someone else. Who then is correct? Nobody measures up to the true standard which is God's standard, that is why we need Jesus Christ. We are all hypocrites, liars, and whatever else. What Christians do know is that regardless of our shortcomings, God sent Jesus Christ as an atonement for our sins. Christianity is not about religion, it is about a personal relationship with Christ.

The REAL definition of a good person:
One who has not broken one of Gods commandments.
Because that was not possible, is why He sent a Savior.

If there is a God (which neither YOU nor I know), my chances of "going to heaven" are probably better than yours. Since I'm content with my one eartly life, I'm not expecting any more, while you will be quite disappointed to suddenly be dead, without our desired "reward".
Religion teaches greed and many other ugly things. I have no use for them. I live and let live, but I refuse to be given orders in my personal affairs by people who worship an silent, mute and invisible ghost in the sky.

Wow! What got me is that the host says "i'm a sinner, there is not much hope for me"-Wow lady, and then she also says she would rather have a sinner than a hypocrite?-what are you kinding me, you can tell she's not a Christian, because to us a sinner and a hypocrite are one in the same-man I hope John Mac to some time to talk the Gospel over with her after the interview, she is lost, and it made me sad to hear her say the things she said.

The definition of a good person: One who treats other people in the same respectful and caring ways as he himself would want to be treated.
By that definition, John MacArthur and similar hate-obsessed divisionists are NOT good people.

Very well spoken, bill.
There are countless Pastors you never will hear of who serve God and pastor churches without scandal...but the left-wing media always uses every opportunity to belittle us and make us look bad.
Sad but true.

The real point is that we are not good people.
People who labour under that illusion are going to be continually disappointed.
This is why we need a Saviour, this is why God's plan of salvation is the most important matter in life.
Without Christ, a person is going to just go from bad to worse. I think God did us a favour by shortening our life spans.
The unregenerated soul would be a true monster after after a couple of hundred years.

Again, how am I defending hypocrisy? I'm not trying to come out on top, I'm trying to figure out why you think the way you do and also trying to respect you at the same time.
But you're right, I am a bad/selfish person compared to God, who is perfect and holy. That's why I need His grace. You seem to think that Christianity is about using grace as an excuse to do "bad" things and avoid doing good. I encourage you to read Romans 6:1-14.
I don't want to argue, I just want to know how you think. |
